Tradition, elevated.
Sazón La Reina started with my mom. After immigrating from the Dominican Republic to New York City, she balanced working with raising a family, all while refusing to compromise on home-cooked meals.
Dominican cooking starts with sazón: fresh vegetables, herbs, and aromatics that build flavor from the ground up. To save time without sacrificing flavor, she created a blend that turned a cutting board of ingredients into a jar and a spoon.
Years later, after moving from New York to Charlotte, I found myself reaching for those same flavors. I began recreating her recipe in my own kitchen, refining it while keeping its soul intact. Made with real vegetables, herbs, and spices, Sazón La Reina is tradition, elevated.
What she knew as instinct, unbeknownst to her, was culinary technique.
Caramelization builds the first layer of flavor.
The Maillard reaction builds another layer of flavor.
Acid adds complexity to dishes, and serves as a natural preservative.
